Dog Runs
Our dog runs use 3.5mm thick (9 gauge) galvanised wire panels and are black powder coated. This is thicker than other panels on the market and is just as suitable for large dogs as it is for smaller dogs. This aperture stops the dogs from climbing.
Our Dog Runs are available to purchase online or over the phone
The dog kennel panels can be fit together to make custom shapes, we stock roof panels to suit. The kennel panels are modular, they come in 4ft and 2ft widths by 4,6 or 8ft high, this allows you to make as large a dog kennel as you wish. It also allows you to add to it at a later date.
Give your Dog a safe and secure Outdoor Kennel
The dog run panels have bolt holes through both faces making any kennel panel either a corner or a side. This makes it even easier to change the shape or add to the dog kennel in the future. The panels are manufactured from 2" x 2" welded mesh and 25mm box section frame which are galvanized then black powder coated.
If you have a wall you wish to incorporate into the pen you can attach our panels with wall plugs using the holes already available in the panels.
Kerbside Delivery Policy.
The Policy of the Company for domestic customers is to deliver kerbside which means that the components will be delivered to the nearest access point possible to the intended address and the customer will be required to collect from there.
Customers are requested to inform the Company of any specific difficulties in delivery e.g. no parking areas, steep slopes, confined access etc.
Wherever practicable a tail lift will be used to lower the components to the ground. Where this is not practicable then the components will need to be manually handled off the lorry. This is the responsibility of the customer.
Delivery will be on a pallet. For the majority of orders the panels will need to be removed individually by hand if a forklift truck is not available. The strapping is plastic and can be cut with industrial scissors. Each panels is packed in plastic to avoid damage in shipment. When removing packing/unloading anti cut protective gloves, safety glasses must be worn and also safety boots.
Plans:
Each order will have a plan of panels and a layout will be provided.
For most orders the sides will be made up from 1200 or 600mm panel widths either 1800 or 2400mm high.
Roof panels can be very similar in size for example 1225 x 2400 for a roof and 2400x1200 for a side. It’s important that the panels are sorted between roof panels and sides. It’s often easier to see the roof panels when they are on the delivery pallet.
The panels are supplied to cover the area only. The roof support has not been calculated and will need to be supported if over 2.4 metres in any direction. When the number of support posts required is being calculated it is important to take into account the potential for snow to rest on the roof as this will considerably add to the weight of the roof or risk of collapse.
Installation/ Assembly
Assembly is a minimum 2 person job and should only be carried out by a competent person with experience working above head height and with experience of power tools. Although no panel is more than 20kg there is a risk from dropping panels and correct PPE should be worn, which includes anti cut safety gloves, safety boots a hard hat and safety glasses. On larger assemblies (multi panel width roofs), the client should produce RAMS determined on the location and type of install.
The area the panels are installed on must be level, if there is uneven ground you will likely end up with a twist in the door making the lock stick. A concrete/slab base is preferable but as the panels are Galvanized they can be laid straight onto the ground if its firm.
Each panel is drilled through the face and the side meaning any panel can act as a corner. It’s important that you ascertain from the layout which way the corners are assembled. On a 4 sided cage bolting them together will make the cage 50mm longer on one side or the other. The roof panels allow for this, if the corners are bolted together incorrectly the roof panels will not line up. Individual panels are 25mm thick.
Firstly assemble the side panels. The door panel can go in any position where a 1200mm panel goes. The sides are attached using m6 coach bolts and washers. Don’t fully tighten until all side panels are joined. Once panels are joined check the door is swinging and bolting freely then tighten all bolts. If it is sticking the ground is not level or it’s not quite square. You may need to push a corner in, or pack a panel on one side of the door up. Please call a member of our sales staff to discuss.
Once the sides are installed you can start to assemble the roof. Depending on the size of the cage the roof may be spanned by multiple panels. The roof must be supported at minimum centres of 8ft. Support posts are calculated in the online calculator if required. These support posts can be used during assembly. The support panels are normally to be used where 4 panels join on a corner. They drop into the U framework of the support post.
Roof panels sit on top of the side panels so the edges are flush. Bolt roof panels down to the side panels through the predrilled holes and also bolt roof panels to each other using the m6 coach bolts and washers provided.
When assembling the roof panels, find the end roof panels that will be 25 or 50mm larger than the sides.
Please see example below where the roof end panels are 25mm wider 1225mm than the side panels that are 1200mm
If an Internal door is required for a safety porch. This is usually in a corner. If internal (within the cage) made from a 600 panel and another door. Safety porches can also be external requiring an extra side panel.
There are no pre drilled bolt holes for this. The safety porch is attached using angle brackets and self tapping screws. These screws drill and tap the hole in one go. You install them using an electric drill/ screwdriver. Please select the correct torque and it is imperative this step is carried out by a competent person with experience of power tools as the drill can twist once the screw tightens and risks a wrist injury. For this step or when using power tools and Safety Glasses must be worn.
Finally when bolting or fixing the cage down or to a wall, be careful not to overtighten as this can put the door out of line.
Structures in excess of 2.0 metres in height.
Where the structure is in excess of 2.0 metres in height then a suitable means of access and a working platform with adequate fall protection must be used.
For competent trades persons and commercial customers the duty of care requirements in Section 2 and 3 of the Health and safety at Work Act 1974, the risk assessment requirements of Regulation 3 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and Regulations 4-10 of the Working at Height Regulations 2005 must be met.
For structures in excess of 2.4 metres.
Any product in excess of 2.4 metres in height should be installed by a competent tradesperson ONLY. They should produce their own risk assessment and method statement for the task.
Roof Supports for structures in excess of 2.4m in both width and length.
The panels are supplied to cover the area only. The roof support has not been calculated and will need to be supported if over 2.4 metres in any direction. When the number of support posts required is being calculated it is important to take into account the potential for snow to rest on the roof as this will add considerably to the weight of the roof or the risk of collapse.
The weight of snow is as below:

This example shows 3 4ft square kennels in a run. The kennel on the left is 8ft high the kennels on the right are 6ft high. This set up is to show the range of dog run panels we sell. The right hand panel is a full solid sheet, the next divider panel is a 6ft high x 4ft wide half solid panel. This panel allows ventilation but to shield the dogs view and stop them from antagonising each other. |
The English Setter in this example likes nothing more than wriggling through the smallest gap in his garden fence and going for a very long wander. A 3 sided 8ft x 8ft x 6ft high dog run was installed off the garage. This gives him space in the day when his owner's at work. This scenario also allows him somewhere dry to go, without having to put on a roof. |
This example is for short periods of time, ideal for Breeders or large veterinary clinics.

The answer to this is the bigger the dog kennel the better. A square dog run is fine but a longer dog run allows the dogs to run up and down and cover more ground. This also gives the dogs more things to see allowing them to do more dog style activities.
If the dogs are to spend long periods of time in the kennel a 6ft x 12ft dog run would be advisable.
If you have more than 2 dogs a dog kennel size like 6ft x 24ft would be more suitable.
A minimum size would be 8ft x 4ft for small periods of time.
All our panels are galvanized then black powder coated for a more aesthetic appearance. Metal panels are superior to wooden kennel panels as they are resistant to damage from chewing which can, in turn, lead to splinters and vets bills.
How to design and build your dog kennel
Your first consideration when constructing a dog run is the location. A concrete floor is best; our 6ft dog run panels are raised with a 100mm gap at the bottom of the kennel panel. This allows you to wash and disinfect any mess under the dog kennel panel to prevent build-up around the bottom bars.
If you’re installing a concrete base it’s always worth creating a small slope to make washing out the dog kennel easier.
A further use for this raised feet section on the dog run panels is that it can be pushed into the ground in grass areas where its normally difficult to fix down.
The dog run panels have a pre-drilled hole in the center to allow you to bolt down on concrete bases.
If it’s a freestanding dog cage in an open environment, it is worth considering the prevailing wind. We sell half solid and fully solid dog kennel panels that protect against the wind and give shade. We also sell wind break netting that can be used within the kennel for the same purpose. These half solid and solid panels can also be used to stop the dogs barking or keeping dogs from looking at each other when in a divided kennel.
Dog Run Panel Construction
Our kennel panels are 3.5mm thick (9 gauge) with a 2inch square mesh (50mm). This is thicker than other panels on the market and is just as suitable for large dogs as it is for smaller dogs. This aperture stops the dogs from climbing. For very large dogs such as Siberian huskies that tend to climb you may want to consider the 8ft high dog run panels (these don’t have the feet) or use the dog run roof panels.
If you’re buying the dog kennel panels for a custom shape and want the roof panels please give us a call to discuss them. We have different size panels that fit together to make any shape. Our dog run panels are modular they come in 4ft and 2ft widths by 6ft high, this allow you to make as large a dog kennel as you wish. It also allows you to add to it later. The dog run panels have bolt holes through both faces making any kennel panel either a corner or a side. This makes it even easier to change the shape or add to the dog kennel in the future.
The panels are manufactured from 2" x 2" Welded Mesh with 3.5mm diameter wire and 25mm box section frame which are galvanized then black powder coated. If you have a wall you wish to incorporate into the pen you can attach our panels with wall plugs using the holes already available in the panels.
We also have Sun and Wind Shade Netting which can be fixed to the run to provide extra shelter for your pets.

- 2 sizes of panels are available, sides and doors both are 6ft x 4ft. (1830mm high x 1220mm wide)
- Very easy installation with only 3 coach bolts required to join panels. The same applies for the doors, which are already fitted into the frames
- All panels are pre-drilled on the verticals through both faces this means that any panel can be used either as side or a corner panel. Hence the system is versatile enough to make any shape or length
- As the system is modular it can be taken down quickly and reassembled. This allows you to move the run around. This is particularly useful when foxes and other predators are a nuisance and the run is sited on grass
- Modular Design means you can easily choose to have your dog pen as big or small as you require, and if at a later date you decide you need it to be larger, then all you have to do is add more panels
- The panels have a gap at the bottom enabling much easier cleaning with no build up of dirt around the edges, and can be easily washed out with a hose with no water remaining inside
- Strong Welded Hinges and a Heavy Duty Spring Bolt on the Door Panel
- Profile roofs are available if required
- All available from stock
- The dog kennel is not a substitute for exercise; it is a place to allow them to get fresh air. If they get regular walks they will learn to do their business outside rather than making a mess inside the dog kennel.
